How can I stop Pop-ups

I have been getting these for about 1 month, my own fault, I was searching for a footy stream. I get a small box about 10cms square and they are all clearly directed at men as they are suggestive but not pornographic, some times they are about sports cars or weird videos from around the world. When I click on the 'X' the box goes but only to be replaced by another. I have to click off a total of about 20 but they come back a few hours later. I already have Ad Block installed but somehow it gets around this. Is there something I can uninstall? and if so what do I look for?
